  • You are going to La Esquina #1, Playa Langosta, Tamarindo - Across from Villa Alegre B & B.
  • There is now a restaurant named "La Esquina" in town prior to our condo. You need to continue almost a mile
past this to reach the condo in Playa Langosta.
  • KEYS
  • Key pick up is at Hidden Coast Realty (HCR) just as you turn south in town, on the left side, one mile past the
Auto Mercardo Super Market, almost across from the Diria Hotel by the TCBY store and the HSBC bank. 2653-

  • DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM SAN JOSE (3.5 hours): Attn: the new road is finished from San Jose.
Follow the signs to Puntarenas and on to Tamarindo. A 3.5 hour drive now. (9/1/2010)
  • Toll Road: Take the toll road west out of San Jose toward Puntarenas. At Puntarenas you have to drive east
about 5 miles though town to rejoin the Pan American Highway north exiting for Nicoya, then left just after Santa
    Cruz to Tamarindo.
  • Long (Old) Route: Go North on the Pan American Highway (Interamerican Highway) toward San Ramon then San
Miguel.  Before San Miguel turn West toward Nicoya.  Do not make the final turn to Nicoya but continue to Santa
Cruz. Fill up with gas in Santa Cruz. Just past Santa Cruz (1/4 mile) make the left turn to Tamarindo.
  • Option: fly Sansa Air SJO to TNO (Tamarindo)
  • Important: Nature Air flies from the other airport in San Jose not SJO.
  • DRIVING DIRECTIONS: FROM LIBERIA (1 hour)
  • Head West toward Filadelphia and on to Belen.  Do not miss the right turn at Belen for Tamarindo.  Fill up with
gas in Belen. Continue to Tamarindo.  www.tamarindoshuttle.com, for the van from Liberia to Tamarindo.
  • DRIVING DIRECTIONS: ARRIVING IN TAMARINDO:
  • Coming into Tamarindo you will pass the Diria Hotel.  On both routes to Tamarindo there are many Diria Hotel
signs on the way to Tamarindo.
  • 100 yards past the Diria is the only major T intersection in town.  Go left at the T and continue 200 yards up the
grade to another small intersection.  There you will turn right and leave a small market (Dos Pinos) on your left.
After leaving "downtown" you will be on a dirt road.  Continue on the road for 1/2  mile heading South. Pass the
tall buildings on the left (Naxos) and arrive La Esquina.  We are across the street from the B & B "Villa Alegre.

  • Exit Visa is $26 US (Cash, Debit or VISA CARD only).
  • Carry a copy of your Passport, not the original, when traveling around the country.
  • Dress: You will require shorts, t-shirts, flip flops and a bathing suit. Nothing more. Long pants if you are going
horseback riding. Tennis shoes if you are going to hike or go ATVing. Strapped sandals if you are going white
water rafting. No jacket needed unless you're at Monte Verde or Arenal.  Really, that's it. Do not over pack.
  • A camera is essential. SPF 30 sunscreen and bug spray with DEET are a good idea too.

  • RENTAL CARS:
  • All major rental companies rent cars at the airports and in town. If you CALL ALAMO (this is the Tamarindo
office) AT: 011-506-2653-0727. You should get the best rate possible with no additional charges.  In
Tamarindo you also can rent from TriColor or Thrify. They charge $35 to $40 (compact) a day with no extra cost.
All companies will drop off and pick up at the condo. Usually you can drop off at other locations (TNO, SJO, LIR)
    without an additional charge.
  • A good option from Liberia (LIR) is to take the Tamarindo Shuttle: www.tamarindoshuttle.com, and rent a car in
town after you arrive at the condo.
  • Do not speed in Costa Rica. Enough said.   Gas is about a dollar a liter.
  • GPS: Bring one if you have it. You may have to download Costa Rica to your database. You can rent a GPS from
the rental car companies. A GPS can be very helpful if you plan to drive around Costa Rica. Verify any route
against a map if you are unfamiliar with your route.

  • MEDICAL HELP:
  • Dr. Piloto's medical clinic is downtown.  He will fix you or get you to San Jose. CIMA Hospital in San Jose is one of
the best in the world. There are a number of Pharmacies in Tamarindo. You can get almost all prescription drugs
we have in the states. Many drugs that require a prescription in the US are over-the-counter in Costa Rica.
